» Special
Programmes
Tasputra’s
objective is to train its children
to be as independent as possible and
to develop their physical and mental
abilities through the following programmes:
• Aromatherapy • Aquatherapy • Hippotherapy
• Massage
Therapy • Music
Therapy • Occupational
Therapy
• Physiotherapy • Snoezelen • Speech
Therapy
» Nursery
school
About 10 of the children at Tasputra take part in daily kindergarten-style
education. Through painting, drawing, nursery rhymes and listening
to the teacher, they develop their skills in a way that would be hard
for them to do in conventional schools.
» Food
and drink
The children of Tasputra are served nutritious, quality food catering
to their specific needs in solid or blended form for breakfast, lunch
and an afternoon snack. Their drinking water comes from water distillers
that were donated and installed at Tasputra at a cost of 5,000 ringgit
($1,320) each.
» Medical
Care
A team of doctors from a private clinic has given Tasputra children
free medical consultations and medication for the past decade. It includes
several general practitioners and specialists from Klinik Medik and
a specialist from Chew Skin Specialist Clinic. Tasputra children also
visit the Hospital University Kebangsaan Malaysia follow up appointments
and General Hospital Kuala Lumpur for regular dental work. Through
Tasputra’s own initiative, the centre has in the past invited
student nurses from the nearby Gleneagles Intan Specialist Centre to
contribute community service and health-related services for the children.
» Transport
to Tasputra
We have five vans to transport the children to and from the centre
every day.
» Entry
criteria
We are attracted to those who are the most committed to their children’s
development. They have also to be registered with the Welfare Department
and undergo an initial assessment by the physio and occupational therapists.
We also need photocopies of their birth certificates to enrol.
